The BEST Way to Shop the Sales...
So it's been a roller coaster of a month including one ER trip (of COURSE right after we switched insurance...), adding a kiddo to the pack for the semester, and getting hit by a deer. Yes. You read that right...my driver seat door was bashed in by a clueless deer. Anyway, it has had us REALLY pulling in the reins and trying to save money anyway we can.
I love a good sale as much as the next person, and some sales really are worth it (like nearly free spaghetti sauce with sales and coupons...), but others not so much. As we've been trying to diligently stick to our budget and cut the junk we splurge on, I have noticed that I don't search the ads like I used to. I mostly look for food sales now, and most things can be price-matched at Walmart.
In all honesty, we aren't lacking for what we need. Our list of wants has definitely increased...but then after a few weeks several things are already getting crossed off. That's the thing with wants-they change. Often. Something you So. Desperately. Want. Right. Now. turns out to be something you truly can live without and don't really miss.
We all like to save money so we can spend it what we really want, so I've compiled a little list to help us do just that!
The BEST Way to Shop the Sales...
~Don't Go!
~Toss the ads before looking at them.
~Walk around the store several times before settling on what you're buying. Can you even remember what's in the cart?
~Ask yourself: Is it a need? Will you use it in the next week? No? Put it back.
~Pay with cash, not a card. We are less inclined to part with physical dollars than we are to swipe a card.
~Subscribe to apps or sites that follow your favorite products so you know if it really is a good deal. Watch them for about a year. Chances are sales repeat unless the company is going out of business.
Hopefully this list gave you a few ideas to help jumpstart your budget and savings. What are some ways that YOU save $$?
