Do Your Best...And Try Again Tomorrow
My husband frequently travels weeks at a time for work, which leaves me home with our boys. They are the joys of my life...and the reason I want to pull my hair out every day. Today I thought "hey, why don't we go for walk/bike ride on the community trail!"
Great idea right? The weather is great (70*), it is mid-morning so less people, and it's flat, so the kiddos can ride easily. Well life with a kids 5 and 2 can change from fun to frustrating in a matter of seconds, and today's "great idea" turned south in less than 20 minutes. YAAAAAAY.
M wouldn't pedal because less than 1/10 mile his hands were tired. B didn't want his "hole-met" so I had to carry his strider while he ran...and then cried all the way back to the car because he wanted me to carry him. And the diaper bag with waters/snacks (you know, for the wonderful walk I planned). And his helmet. So yeah...who wouldn't want to be supermom and carry everyone and everything. OI! Needless say we all ended up in the car in tears and ready to go home.
Moral of the story? Don't give up. Some days just end in screaming, crying, fits, but that doesn't mean it was a bad day (stay with me). We got outside-Win. We tried to practice new skills (biking)-Win. We made it back to the car and home safely-Win. Hopefully next time will be better...and there will be a next time, just probably not tomorrow.
